Whether it’s your first time or you need a refresher, we have all the answers for your top of mind questions for when you attend an Indian wedding.
DO
give monetary gifts which end in $1 e.g $101, $151 etc (its considered lucky)!

feel comfortable eating with your hands. How else are you supposed to eat a naan?!

consider dressing the part!

feel free to wear bright colors but avoid white and red (white and red are reserved for ‘the Bride’).
channel your inner Madhuri Dixit/Britney Spears on the dance floor!

DON’T
mind when others stare. It’s our way of saying you look HOT!

share dirt on the bride/groom with the guest (universal faux-pas)!

hug everyone! If it’s an Indian wedding, you may want to press the fingers and palms of your hands together and say ‘Namaste’. Everyone will appreciate this sign of respect.

kiss the bride unless you’re a woman or unless you know it’s OK to do!

get sloppy and indulge in aggressive PDA. Many South Asians tend to be conservative.

forget to put your phone down and be ‘in the moment’ 🙂
